"Wooler & Pet Quality FA's"

The American Rabbit Breeders Association has established a 'breed standard' for every domestic breed of rabbit. Within the breed standard each rabbit is required to exhibit specific physical traits. If any of these traits are missing the rabbit is disqualified from showing or breeding.
Occasionally a healthy rabbit will be born with a disqualifying color or color pattern that disqualifies the rabbit from registry and/or showing. This same rabbit is perfectly fine! It simply lacks a trait required in the breed standards....usually such as color.
These very healthy and loveable rabbits find their way into the pet wool production world.
Known as "wooler rabbits", Angora rabbits have their wool harvested two to four times a year. The wool produces unbelievably soft luxurious hand spun yarns!!!
"Wooler rabbits" do make excellent pets!!! BUT be forewarned. Angora rabbits are high maintenance pets. They require regular grooming!!! If you're not sure or unwilling to put the time into grooming you should reconsider your choice of Angora rabbit as a pet! The only alternative to regular grooming would be regular visits to a local professional dog groomer. The groomer will shear your bunny with a full body clip two to three times a year.
